Academic Interview – Helping You Feel Ready

Interviews can be incredibly stressful—especially when you're competing against hundreds of applicants, some of whom may already be informally shortlisted. It can feel like a hopeless process, and you might find yourself wondering if it's even worth the effort.

At Academic Interview, our goal is simple: to reduce your stress and help you walk into any interview feeling prepared and confident. We believe that when you know what to expect, and you've had the chance to practise, you're giving yourself the best possible chance of success.

As you likely know, many interview questions are predictable. They come up again and again, and the good news is—they're learnable. But unless you're going through repeated real interviews and getting unbiased, constructive feedback, it's hard to know where you stand.

That’s where we come in. Based on your profile, we’ll match you with one of our expert mentors (we’re not a recruitment agency, so we focus solely on you). Your mentor will schedule an initial 15-minute mock interview and provide very basic feedback using the following levels:

  • Novice – Unfamiliar with interview formats; struggles to articulate responses clearly or relevantly.

  • Beginner – Understands basic interview expectations; gives simple responses but may lack confidence or structure.

  • Competent – Answers questions clearly and appropriately; demonstrates preparation and some self-awareness.

  • Proficient – Communicates with confidence and clarity; tailors responses effectively to the role and organization.

  • Expert – Excels at building rapport, delivering compelling, structured answers; anticipates questions and leaves a strong, lasting impression.
